If Republicans make this election about little choices, victory is less certain. If the election is about big things, it is more certain. Mitt Romney signaled he will make the race about big things - putting America's fiscal house in order and renewing prosperity by cutting the deficit, reforming the tax code and saving the social safety net.
Vice presidential picks often times say more about the presidential candidate than the vice presidential candidate.
That's the case today.
Last November, Governor Romney gave a speech on entitlement reform that was not much watched at the time. Not much attention was paid to it but in it he embraced the reform of the social institutions, reform of the budget process, a serious effort to reduce the deficit.
